Dr. Sara Sutton
Sara Sutton grew up in Los Angeles, California, where she enjoyed the diverse population, food, and cultures. She earned her bachelor’s degree in linguistics from University of California at Los Angeles and pursued her doctorate in psychology through the University of Rochester, in Rochester, New York, where she did much of her work in primary prevention. During her internship year in Topeka, Kansas, Sara received extensive training in working with adolescents and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Following her graduation from Rochester, Sara moved to Newport News, Virginia, and after completing her residency at the Peninsula Child Development Clinic, she established and ran an independent private practice for 12 years.
Sara and her family moved to Auburn in 2009, when she joined Clinical Psychologists, P.C. She currently provides psychotherapy to older adolescents and adults as well as to couples, with a wide range of concerns, challenges, and diagnoses. She has found her work to be extremely gratifying and has been deeply impressed by her patients’ strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
Sara is mindful of individual and cultural differences and believes that mutual trust and respect and a sense of humor are essential ingredients of a healing relationship.
