Tiffany Lonis-Shumate, MS, LMFT
Tiffany joined Clinical Psychologists, P.C. in May of 2021 as a Marriage and Family Therapist. She enjoys working with teenagers, college students, and adults and provides individual, couples, or family therapy.
Tiffany was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. She earned her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Tech University in 2005 and moved to Auburn shortly after. Prior to joining Clinical Psychologists, P.C., Tiffany worked for several years with incarcerated teens as well as owned a private practice in Auburn.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, she takes a systemic approach to issues experienced by clients and strives to help people understand how the systems they are a part of impact their emotions, behaviors, and lives. She takes a holistic approach, incorporating mindfulness, self-care, emotion-focused therapy, and practical strategies to improve quality of life and relationships. She believes in the importance of being intentional in relationships with others as well as in relationship with oneself. Tiffany has experienced in her own life that many things in life are not in our control and can be difficult to cope with and navigate. She feels privileged to walk with other people through their hard times and unpredictable situations and provide concrete tools to help them tolerate and process the emotions they experience.
Tiffany is passionate about helping individuals cope with depression, anxiety, relationship or family issues, trauma, and attachment trauma. In her work with couples, she primarily focuses on communication issues, parenting or co-parenting challenges, trauma, and recovering from infidelity in the relationship.
Tiffany has a heart for the LGBTQ community and enjoys working with people who are questioning or needing support in being open about who they are, facing challenges as a non-binary or transgender person in their family or in our community, and helping individuals and couples with difficulties they are experiencing.
Outside of work, Tiffany enjoys spending time with her family, appreciating music and art, running, being outside as much as possible, and drinking too much coffee. She and her husband run a small boutique farm in Waverly and use this as a way of connecting to nature and building community with others.
